Raising the roof August 23, 2014

Just when you thought Seminyak couldn’t get any more glam, along came Double-Six Luxury Hotel Seminyak. It’s the love child of the creator of Ku De Ta, Chez Gado Gado and Cocoon, Kadek Wiranatha, and Australian restaurateur Robert Marchetti, of Icebergs and North Bondi Italian fame – not to mention the late, legendary Latin in Melbourne. Since its opening in May, the hotel, on Bali’s beautiful-people-central Double Six Beach, has knocked the socks off the competition, with its exquisite design principles and pure cool factor.
It just got a whole lot more cool. Opened on August 15, the Double-Six Rooftop, 1600-square-metre space atop the hotel, gives beautiful beach view from 15 metres up. It features a huge, fluorescent shark and stingray tank at its entrance, a five-metre circular grill and fire pit serving satay in the middle of the action and Pineapple Studios, a 30-seat silent cinema, that screens films throughout the day. Hostesses float around in extravagant costume and other touches of staginess are dialled up to 11. Marchetti says: “We really envisioned Double-Six as an entertainment precinct, a destination where people will come for some of the best drinking, dining and relaxing in Bali.
“I think the new Double-Six Rooftop Bar is unlike anything anyone has seen before. The design and theatricality are going to blow sour guests away.” See double-six.com.
